»BITTERSWEET HISTORY• The moment the Aarden twins were born, they were trouble. They screamed if they weren't placed together, bit their mother when their teeth came through, kicked people in the playground when they started school. Vincent seemed to develop sadist traits in early life, picking fights and winning them, whereas Sebastian was more masochistic, starting fights just to get beaten up. When asked why they did this, the twins simply shrugged. They were intelligent boys, sebastian the more flamboyant, artistic twin, vincent moody and reserved, interested in science and astrology. Their closeness was strange even when they were 8 years old. Vincent was overprotective of Sebastian, every time he cut his knees, Vincent was there to kiss it better.

They first slept together when they were 11 years old, vincent taking the dominant role. they didn't think about it, just did it, falling into vincents bed and making out, the first consummation of anything sexual between them. Sebastian realised he was in love with Vincent, obsessively so. He loved it when Vincent ordered him around blindly and did exactly as he was told. The only problem was, that sebastian began to develop an addiction to sex, seeking it out anywhere. it was out of control, and no matter how much it hurt him and vincent, he needed it, like a drug.

Despite all of their troubles, Vincent and Sebastian somehow still managed to be highly intelligent, Vincent expressing himself more scientifically, while Sebastian preferred to paint. His work was often quite macabre; he didn't have a lot of positive influences in his life. He did a lot of 'self portraits' which were really Vincent - he could tell the difference even if others couldn't. He loved to paint Vincent.
